Middle Ground Bookstore Fundraising projects began in August 2024 as a partnership between House of Morrow (HoM) and Middle Ground Bookstore. This ongoing collaboration was designed to create opportunities for people in Emporia to come together and celebrate both the arts and the power of community. HoM’s role in the project has been to book live bands and poetry readings, using music and live performances as a means to bring people into the bookstore space. By doing so, HoM hopes to foster an environment of learning, creativity, and togetherness—an environment that encourages dialogue and connection among community members.

Supporting Local Artists
This initiative directly supports House of Morrow’s mission to use art as a means of communication and community building. Music and live poetry readings not only enhance the atmosphere of Middle Ground Bookstore but also serve as a unique form of public art that invites people to engage in a shared experience. The project is significant for the local community because it provides an inclusive and welcoming space for people to gather, learn, and connect through the arts. The partnership with Middle Ground Bookstore is a perfect example of how HoM works to create meaningful, innovative programs that support local businesses while fostering a greater sense of community. This collaboration continues to thrive and evolve, with plans for more events in the future.
