House of Morrow and Walnut Elementary School fifth graders dove into a creative writing literacy program earlier this year. The culmination of the program is a collection of the students’ writings in an anthology published by local independent press, Meadowlark Books.

Funding this project was made possible by the United Way United for Racial Equity Grant, Emporia Community Foundation, House of Morrow, and Meadowlark Press.

AEC MURAL PROJECT 

The AEC Mural & Patio Project, a collaboration between House of Morrow and Flint Hills Technical College, aims to create a vibrant, welcoming space for adult learners. 

It features flowerbeds, a pergola, and a public mural, enhancing the center's atmosphere. Led by Vicki Schweinler, the project combines AEC funding and House of Morrow's contributions to inspire and transform the learning environment.

LIVE LOCAL MUSIC

The Middle Ground Bookstore Fundraising project, launched in August 2024, is a partnership between House of Morrow and Middle Ground Bookstore to celebrate the arts and community. 

HoM’s role is to book live bands and poetry readings, using music and performances to bring people together and foster an environment of learning, creativity, and connection.
