The Emporia Public Library serves the community by fostering a welcoming environment, lifelong learning opportunities, and exciting experiences that enhance community members’ quality of life. We provide access to a balanced, up-to-date, and easy to browse collection that meets a variety of informational, educational, and recreational needs. We are responsive to patron requests, making use of community partnerships and referrals while staying within the scope of library services. We help library users navigate an evolving digital world by offering opportunities to develop their skills and by providing access to emerging technologies that support their success. We implement technologies that improve library experiences online and in person.
House of Morrow is excited to be partnering with the Emporia Public Library (EPL) to support and expand literacy initiatives within the community. After initial meetings, we’ve collaborated on several exciting opportunities, including offering literacy programs aimed at enhancing reading and learning opportunities for people of all ages. One of the key components of this partnership involves EPL staff members visiting Walnut Elementary School to engage with students about navigating media and information. We’ve also discussed ways to support EPL’s goals for increasing literacy rates across Emporia, including providing easier access to library cards, expanding tutoring programs, and hosting a book launch event to celebrate local authors. House of Morrow is committed to helping expand and elevate these programs, ensuring they reach a wider audience and foster a culture of learning in our community. Together, we’re working to create a more literate, informed, and connected Emporia.
